An incomplete whetstone of probable early-medieval date (c. AD 800 - 1100). Description: The whetstone is formed from a very fine-grained, sedimentary, mica-rich stone. It is sub-trapezoidal in plan with tapering sides and is trapezoidal in cross section although there is significant post-depositional damage that has changed its profile. Both ends are broken, probably in antiquity. Two sides are flat and smooth. The other sides are damaged. The object would have consisted of a central circular plate with boss from which four arms would have emerged, one at each cardinal point; one arm has been lost completely, while another arm now only has a vestigial loop. Five fragments of a gilded silver sword pommel, an addendum to 2017T954 (NMS-1E4D05). The fragments (nos. 1 to 5) comprise two fragments of openwork arching arms (nos. 1-2) and three fragments from the body of the fitting (nos. 3-5). None of the fragments join each other, but may join the rest of the artefact recorded at NMS-1E4D05 (2017T954); further research is ongoing at Norwich Castle Museum, which has acquired all the fragments. A complete or almost complete late Early-Medieval (Anglo-Scandinavian) c.11th century copper-alloy zoomorphic stirrup terminal. The stirrup terminal is worn but shows moulded zoomorphic features in the form of a stylised animal or beast, possibly a wolf, with a hollow, semi-cylindrical tube which would have joined to the stirrup. Description: An incomplete Early Medieval silver strap-end dating to c. AD 750-950. The strap-end is tongue-shaped with a pointed terminal. The plate tapers inwards from a 14.8 mm to 8.6 mm in width before it terminates to a point. The top of the plate is rectangular and has one central rivet hole with a diameter of 3.2 mm. There are some incised lines around the rivet hole, but these are worn, and it is uncertain if this is part of the decoration of the strap-end or lines caused by wear and damage.
