A rim fragment of a Roman shale bowl, dish or lid (c. AD 43-c. AD 410). The finished surface is dark grey, shiny and fractured. The breaks are old. Length: 24.0mm; width: 37.4mm; thickness: 11.7mm. Weight: 7.87g.

Copper-alloy repair patch or folded 'paperclip' type rivet from a Medieval to Post Medieval vessel. It is folded from a lozenge shaped copper alloy sheet and was used to repair small splits in copper alloy vessels. The patch has an even dark green patina. Egan gives a broad date range for this type of pot mend, dating from the Early Medieval to Post Medieval periods ( Material Culture in London in an Age of Transition, page 101) but also suggests a central usage period from about the late 15th to the mid to late 16th Centuries.
