Description: Treasure reference 2018 T740; a post-medieval silver-gilt dress hook of Reads' 'Early post-medieval Class D, Type 7' (Read 2008, p. 83, no. 280).
The dress hook is formed of four conjoined fleur-de-lis radiating from a central hole inlaid with a large bulbous-headed knop that imitates a cabochon gem. The knop passes through the central hole and splays onto the reverse to stop it from coming loose. The arms of the dress hook are in moulded-relief with openwork segments between. Roman copper-alloy vulvate mount, dating from c. AD 150-300. The mount is formed of a sub rectangular plate with a raised oval shaped boss in the centre. There is a linear groove running lengthwise down the oval, giving the appearance of a stylised vulva.
The underside of the mount is concave where the boss is raised on the front. There are two integral lugs at either edge of the concave portion. They are cylindrical in section and end with a hammered or flattened tip.
The patina is in variable condition, surviving well is some places and in others having worn away. The corners…

A bi-polar core from Boulder Clay deposited in the last Ice Age, probably worked on an anvil, as indicated by the deep negative scar on the other side and the damage at each end of the piece. Late Mesolithic (between 7400-4000 BC) and similar to material, according to Ron Cowell of the Museum of Liverpool, from sites east of Liverpool or on the Wirral.
Possibly the remnants of a larger pebble used to fashion smaller blades by striking, in this case on an anvil.

An incomplete, medieval copper-alloy buckle dating to AD1350-1450. The buckle consists of an oval lipped frame with a notch for the pin to rest on. The buckle would have had a copper-alloy pin, now missing. Off set pin bar. Ref. Egan 1991: 74,nos.308,309. See similar examples at, NMS-09F043, IOW-432DD44 and ESS-F050441. Length,15.2mm,width 19.8mm, thickness 1.9mm, weight 1.22g.

A probable Roman copper alloy furniture fitting, dating to c. AD 43-410. The fitting consists of a plano-convex knop, with a narrowed, waisted projection expanding from the base. There are traces of iron corrosion affixed to the base of the projection. The knop is undecorated except for a slightly obliquely angled incised circumferencial collar around the the base.
The finial is 20.7mm in length/height, 17.94mm in width (diameter of dome) and weighs 21.16g.
