A probable Roman copper alloy furniture fitting, dating to c. AD 43-410. The fitting consists of a plano-convex knop, with a narrowed, waisted projection expanding from the base. There are traces of iron corrosion affixed to the base of the projection. The knop is undecorated except for a slightly obliquely angled incised circumferencial collar around the the base. The finial is 20.7mm in length/height, 17.94mm in width (diameter of dome) and weighs 21.16g.
