A post medieval cast copper alloy casket key c.1500-1600. The key is 33.2mm in overall length and has an oval shaped bow with two internal triangular projections adjacent to the stem. The oval cross-sectioned solid stem has three decorative collars next to the bow then tapers gradually to a pointed end that extends slightly beyond the bit. The bit is rectangular (5.2mm x 7.6mm) Weight 3.6g.
There is an identical published record that can be found at HAMP-8EEA70 and gives a reference as; Read (2001, 73; fig. 47, no. 565), dating from the 16th century.
