A fragment of a ceramic vessel dating to the early Bronze Age, c.2,400-1,200 BC. The fragment is sub-rectangular in plan and section. Breaks form all edges of the fragment and no indication of the complete vessel form has survived. The pot fabric is black in colour, indicating that it has been highly reduced, and is soft with frequent quartz inclusions. The outer surface of the fragment is decorated with twisted cord impressions forming two parallel lines with several adjacent thinner lines on either side of them, almost giving the impression of cross-hatching. An incomplete copper-alloy Roman stud/mount, dating to AD 100-300. It is sub-rectangular in plan, with rounded short sides and it is hemisferical in cross-section. The back face originally had two integral rivets; the one which suvives now bears a disc head. The front face is decorated with transverse bands alternate with thin ridges. An incomplete Roman to Early Medieval propeller-shaped belt stiffener, dating to AD 350-450. It consists of a central oval flat element, which has a sub-trapezoidal plate extending to either side. The front face has a longitudinal median rib, which is pierced at either end by two copper-alloy rivets. The long borders of the front face are decorated with a line of incised dots. An incomplete copper-alloy late Medieval strap end, dating to AD 1400-1500. It consists of a crescent-shaped plate, which has a sub-rectangular expansion on the lower concave edge. The expansion has an openwork decoration depicting two symmetrical scrolls, probably of bramble, ending in a fleur-de-lis-like flower. An incomplete copper-alloy Early Medieval stirrup mount, dating to AD 1000-1100. It is pentagonal in plan and there is a right angle flange at the bottom of the mount. There are two holes on the lower part of the mount, which still house the iron rivets; on the back of the mount survives a fragment of the iron strap or fitting. The apex of the mount is missing but it bears traces of a further central circular hole. A biconical, cast lead spindle whorl dating to the medieval period. Description: The whorl has been badly cast and the decoration is faint but both sides are decorated with a circumferential zigzag line creating triangular cells. Alternate cells are decorated with a single moulded pellet in the upper cells and three moulded pellets in the lower ones. There is a central hole 10.2mm in diameter. The edge of the whorl has a flattened area at one point with an elongated hole. This is a casting flaw rather than damage. Measurements: Diameter 30.49mm: Thickness 13.20mm: Weight: 51.08g.

A fragment of a Middle or late Bronze Age copper alloy spear head, probably dating to c. 1550-800 BC. The surviving fragment comprises of the mid-rib, circular in cross section and tapering from the top of the socket to the point, which is lost to abrasion. Vestigial remains of highly abraded wings project from either side of the rib. Dimensions: length 34.5mm; width 14.4mm; thickness 9.7mm; weight 12.20g. The presence of a midrib would suggest a date in the Middle or Late Bronze Age (Davis 2016; 2017).
