A worn and almost complete post-Medieval silver halfgroat of James I (1603-1625), minted at London. First Coinage. Initial marks: thistle/thistle, 1603-1604 (North 1991: 144, ref: 2076).
Obverse: .I.D.G.ROSA.SINE.SPINA (a rose without thorns); Crowned bust right with II (mark of value) behind head.
Reverse: No legend; Square shield.
Diameter: 17.0mm. Weight: 0.77g. DA=12:3.
