An incomplete copper alloy Colchester Derivative Polden Hill type brooch dating to the Roman period (c. AD 75-175). The brooch has a complete set of wings, decorated with double veritcal incised lines at either wing tip. The reverse of the head is concave to accommodate the complete spring. The top loop of the spring is secured with the remains of the lug at the top of the head of the brooch. Post Medieval token: a 17th century trade token issued by John Cherry of Worcester. Williamson (Williamson, G.C. Trade Tokens Issued in the 17th CenturySeaby Volume I-III) No. 132. Trade tokens were issued between 1648 and 1672 at a time when there was little low denomination coinage being issued by the crown. As a result traders and business proprietors began issuing tokens as an alternate coinage with equivalent denominations of a farthing, half penny or penny. Copper alloy and iron possible door fitting. Fragment of a cast object with a cylindrical solid component and a curved integrally cast hollow part, the latter mostly broken. The cylindrical part has ferrous corrosion trapped between inner and outer rings of copper alloy on that side opposite the projecting part. An extremely worn copper alloy Late Iron Age-early Roman Colchester brooch, 35.1mm in length, which has been heavily eroded and distorted by post-depositional compression. Missing its foot, catchplate and most of its pin. The bow has a circular cross-sectional profile narrowing from 4.8mm thick at the head to 4.0mm thick at the break. The integral spring is heavily distorted and has a short stub of pin attached. Similar to Hull's T90 class and compares favourably to Hattatt (2000), p296 number 14 or 250.
