Copper alloy and iron possible door fitting. Fragment of a cast object with a cylindrical solid component and a curved integrally cast hollow part, the latter mostly broken. The cylindrical part has ferrous corrosion trapped between inner and outer rings of copper alloy on that side opposite the projecting part. This is interpreted as the springing of a door handle, formerly seated and turning on an iron bar, and with a lighter curved handle. Probably polished by the finder. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1800-1900.

Copper alloy door fitting. Cast straight-sided plate with a stepped and curved end and a straight stepped end. The latter bears a round nut through which passes an integrally cast round section pin, on which the object would turn to serve as an escutcheon covering a keyhole. This is confirmed by a key-hole-shaped stain on the reverse which, together with other patches of black, may arise from the oiling of the lock or its escutcheon. Traces of a stamped maker's name in capitals of modern form appear on the display face. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1800-1900.
