Lead spindle whorl. Cast cylindrical whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 9.5mm, cf. Walton Rogers form B. One side has a series of eight wedge-shaped cut-outs removed from one face - whether on the master from which it was cast or as a modification of a plain whorl is uncertain, though the former would obviously be easier. This has produced the appearance of a gear wheel or cog, functions to which a soft metal like lead are unsuited. Lead spindle whorl. Cast flat-sided cylindrical whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 11.1mm, Walton Rogers form B. The outer edge is slightly rounded. Patinated. The spindle size and form may together point to an Anglo-Scandinavian date. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 950-1100.

Lead spindle whorl. Cast biconical whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 10.9mm. The sides are slightly concave, in an exaggerated version of the biconvex form with one side taller than the other, and appear to be decorated with closely spaced radial lines or petals on both sides; these might conceal lettering. A prominent circumferential rim separates the two sides and a flat edge appears around the aperture on both sides. Lightly patinated. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1600.
