This is a copper alloy Anglo-Scandinavian harness cheek piece fragment showing a stylised animal that depicts the head and neck of a beast right, the head is curved backwards in a tight C-shaped to look back over its body. At the terminal of the 'C' is an inwardly projecting sub-rectangular tab that forms the snout of the beast. Above the snout, at the terminal of the C, is a projecting semicircle for the brow. Further smaller knops are found on the spine of the beast with two larger examples at the base of the curve, this area is also wider and may have formed the body of the beast. …
