Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Lead stylus of medieval or post-medieval date (c. 1100 - 1700 AD). The object has a solid, cylindrical body which narrows at two sides to form a flat edge which is pointed to one side. The object has a matt, white patina. It is 77.88mm in length and 12.01mm in diameter. This type of stylus was probably used to mark slate; as a similar form was used from medieval times well into the post-medieval period, it is difficult to date precisely without archaeological context. Similar examples recorded on the database include: CORN-1C863B and DUR-805C57.
