An incomplete, medieval, cast copper-alloy, single loop buckle. Description: The buckle has a kidney-shaped frame with a concave outer edge and an offset and narrowed strap bar. There is a shallow pin notch in the outer edge. There are file marks across every surface. The pin is missing. Measurements: Length 10.42mm: Width 16.93mm: Thickness 2.15mm: Weight 1.12g.

An incomplete copper alloy Shoe or Knee Buckle of Post-Medieval date (AD1660-1720). The object is a cast double loop buckle with open work loops, each with three apertures. The frame has concave, bifid sides with a lobed knop over each spindle. The object also retains a sheet plate chape which terminates in a rounded end with a central perforation. The pin is missing. Copper alloy spur buckle with integral plate. The plate is a long and narrow rectangle bar that has a low expanded triangular mid-section. A transverse and flanged collar to the rear of the mid-section marks the base of the triangle and leads in to an oval terminal that is pierced in the centre to accommodate a rivet. On the opposite end of the plate to the hook is a rectangular buckle that has a sheet roller on the forward edge. At the rear of the buckle is a hole to accommodate the pin; behind tis hole and on the reverse of the plate is the remains of an integral copper alloy rivet.

Medieval buckle (mid 12th to mid 13th centuries): The copper alloy buckle frame is a 'D' shape with a narrowed and off-set strap bar. The loop of the frame tapers in width towards the strap bar, and is at its widest at the apex of the frame. At the apex, on the outer face, there is a notch. The loop is sub-rectangular in section. The surface is undecorated. The pin is missing. The frame has an incomplete abraded and traces of a mid green patina with small areas of red copper corrosion.
