Worn post medieval silver coin, probably a threepence of Elizabeth I dating to the period AD 1558 - 1603. Uncertain initial mark. Tower mint. Pierced at 11 o'clock on reverse. The perforation of a precious metal coin would normally indicate that it should be considered as potential Treasure. However, since coins of this period with similar piercings appear in hoards of currency, it suggests that such objects could re-enter circulation as coins.
