An incomplete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) silver sceat dating to the period AD 675-750 issued at Ribe, Denmark. Series X (Type 31). The obverse depicts a facing, radiate, Wodan head with chevron beard, cross pommée either side with one pellet above within a line border with beaded border. The reverse depicts a monster in flight left, looking back, gaping jaws biting raised triple-forked tail, with a pellet below the head, a prominent member and clawed feet below, within a line border and beaded border.
