An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy mount (c. 1500-c. 1700). The mount is an elongated sub-triangular shape in plan, moulded at the front and flat at the rear. One end is straight and the opposite end is in the form of a fleur-de-lis or trefoil. The front has a foliate design. Close to each corner of the straight end there is a small circular hole. At the rear there are two integral tapering spikes which are circular in cross-section. One is complete and the other survives as a stub. An incomplete damaged and bent Medieval silver penny of Edward I (1272-1307), minted at London. Probably class 3g, 1280-1282 (North 1991: 29, ref: 1022). The coin is in two parts. Obverse: [ED]WR' A[NGL DNS hY]B (small crescent stop); Crowned bust facing with a trifoliate crown and wedged drapery. Reverse: [ ]ON[ ]; Long cross dividing the inscription with three pellets in each quadrant. Diameter: 17.6mm. Weight: 0.81g. (the weight includes some soil) North, J.J. 1991. A post-Medieval copper-alloy box clasp, possibly from a multi-stranded necklace or other item of jewellery (c. 1800-c. 1900). The object is two machine pressed rectangular plates soldered to a central rectangular block which is probably solid. The back plate is larger than the front plate and is perforated along its two longer edges. Each circular perforation is about 0.8mm in diameter. The holes were for individual strands. The front plate is decorated and has a 'scrolled' border with a wavy edge. The border encloses a rectangular panel within which there is a line of ten pellets.…

A complete lead alloy possible spindle whorl of Unknown date (c. AD 43-c. 1800). The spindle whorl is sub-circular and is hemi-spherical, domed at the top and flat on the underside. A central hole has parallel sides and is 5.0mm in diameter. This spindle whorl has a coarse surface and is greyish buff. Length: 19.4mm; width: 16.3mm; thickness: 7.2mm. Weight: 11.09g. Plain spindle whorls and weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards and are hard to date precisely although most are late Medieval or post-Medieval.
