A Roman ceramic rim sherd from a Black Burnished Ware (BB1, from Wareham/Poole Harbour, Dorset) vessel, probably a bowl, probably dating to c. AD 44-150. A hard fired dark grey/black fabric with an abundant sub-angular quartz temper, burnished on both the internal and external surface. It is from a simple open-mouthed vessel with a beaded rim and no decoration. The sherd measures 28.67mm in length, 20.45mm in width and weighs 5.01g.
A similar example can be found in Seager Smith and Davies (1993) form 13, dated to between the first century and the early second century AD.
