Copper alloy possible brooch fragment, as kindly suggested by the finder. Cast oval section slightly tapered object, with three short ragged spurs at its broader end, and pointed - now sharply so - at the other. Fiercely abraded. This might be the bow of a Colchester brooch, though, if so, not only has it lost almost all of the modest head of the Colchester type from one end, but also all traces of a catch plate at the other at the other, foot, end. Suggested date: possibly Late Iron Age, 100BC-AD43 Length: 50.4mm, Width: 7.7mm, Thickness: 3.5mm, Weight: 3.51gms
