An incomplete copper alloy Iron Age (400-200 BC) La Tène I type brooch, missing part of the spring coil and the pin.

Copper alloy possible brooch fragment, as kindly suggested by the finder. Cast oval section slightly tapered object, with three short ragged spurs at its broader end, and pointed - now sharply so - at the other. Fiercely abraded. This might be the bow of a Colchester brooch, though, if so, not only has it lost almost all of the modest head of the Colchester type from one end, but also all traces of a catch plate at the other at the other, foot, end. Suggested date: possibly Late Iron Age, 100BC-AD43
Length: 50.4mm, Width: 7.7mm, Thickness: 3.5mm, Weight: 3.51gms
