A fragment of a post-Medieval copper-alloy and glass 'fob' seal matrix (1700-1800). This fragment is the frame and intaglio. The handle is missing. The frame is oval in plan and has a central circumferential ridge and step. The bevelled intaglio is secured by small lugs turned inwards. The clear glass intaglio bears a 'man of war' two-decker sailing ship. Viewing an impression, the ship is sailing right. It has three masts and the foresail and mizzensail are furled. An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy double looped oval (c. 1550-c. 1650). This buckle frame has two similar shaped loops of equal size and they are 'D'-shaped in plan. The central bar is 'D'-shaped in cross-section, flat at the rear and has a knop at each end. At the front, the loops are decorated with a central barrel moulding at each outer edge. The barrels have beaded borders either side which are framed on either side by moulded tendrils and leaf decoration with a knop on the outer edge. An incomplete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) small-long brooch (c. 450-c. 600). The lower part of the brooch as well as the pin is missing. The flat head-plate is a trefoil around a central square. One of the side foils is smaller or has been damaged or abraded. At the front, the square has four ring-and-dot motifs, one close to each corner. A medieval (1250-1450) copper alloy composite strap-end, with a front and back plate and a forked spacer between. The strap-end is parallel sided with a trefoil knop at the closed end. The spacer plate is c.3/4 of the length of the front and back plates, from the trefoil knop and stopping short of the open end. An incomplete cast copper-alloy bow brooch of Hod Hill type dating to the Roman period, c. 43-75 AD. The head and pin are missing in old breaks, but otherwise the brooch is preserved intact. It demonstrates the remains of a square mid-section with a double longitudinal ridge and possible projecting lappets to each side. Dividing the mid-section from the lower bow is a double transverse ridge, below which the lower bow (plain and undecorated) tapers towards a prominently knopped foot. An incomplete Roman copper-alloy flat, enamelled disc (sexfoil) plate brooch (AD 80-250). The pin, some of the spring and the curled-over part of the catch-plate are missing. The front is decorated with a six-pointed star with concave arms around a single copper alloy pellet of reserved metal. The points of the star each terminate in a rounded knop. The areas inside and outside the star were probably enamelled but none can be seen. On the reverse, two projecting perforated lugs accommodate a copper alloy-axis bar for the copper-alloy spring.
