A silver Roman coin; a denarius of Septimius Severus (AD 193 - AD 211) dating to the period AD 196 - AD 197 (Reece Period 10). HERCVLI DEFENS reverse type depicting Hercules standing right, resting on club and holding bow with lion skin over his left arm. Mint of Rome. Sear Volume II number 6284 on page 459. Compare YORYM-379BED which cites RIC IV, p. 100 or 102, no. 79 or 97. It is 15.7mm in diameter and 2.1mm thick. It weighs 1.93gm. The edge of the coin is damaged.
