An incomplete and eroded cast copper alloy Colchester derivative Polden Hill type brooch of Roman date (80-120 AD). The wings are near complete being semi-cylindrical in plan; the flat end caps are pierced. The axis bar, spring and pin are lost or fragmentary as the rear oft he head of the brooch is encased in an orange corrosion product. This suggests that the spring was probably formed of iron wire; it would have been held in place by an external cord which is fixed to a now much abraded rearward facing hook positioned at the midpoint on the upper edge of the reverse. ~~Silver gilt dress pin with hollow cast spherical head divided into two hemispheres by a central raises band. Each half is decorated with applied filigree and granulated ornament containing three sets of quatrefoils and trefoils of annulars enclosed by a circlet and punctuated by knops. The stem which emanates from the base of the sphere is complete and slightly bent.

This is an undecorated lead conical spindle whorl with an off centre hole.
Plain lead spindle whorls and weights were cast locally from the Roman period to the Post Medieval Period, therefore making them hard to date precisely.
