A medieval, silver, cut halfpenny of John, London mint, moneyer Ilger, class 5c. Description: The coin is in good condition. The X in REX on the obverse is a flattened saltire made up of four wedges, typical of a class 5c coin. The coin has not been cut exactly along the line of the void in the reverse cross but slightly off-centre. Measurements: Diameter 16.28mm: Weight 0.48g. Discussion: The off-centre cut may indicate that the coin was cut whilst in circulation rather than at the mint. Ilger only worked at the London mint.
