Flint with cortex strip, backed blade, as kindly identified by the finder. A thin oval flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side, a bulb on the ventral surface, and angled scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect following one curved edge. A strip of cortex is retained along the opposite edge enabling pressure to be brought to bear on it. Dense creamy patina overall suggest the object has endured a prolonged period of exposure to a calcareous environment. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC.
