A copper-alloy farthing trade token of the Ipswich town corporation, dated 1670. As Williamson, 1967: pp. 1084 no. 158.
Obverse: AN/IPSWICH/FARTHING/1670 in four lines.
Reverse: arms of Ipswich
Farthing trade tokens were first issued in 1648 as a response to the lack of small change, with halfpenny tokens following in 1656. They were suppressed in 1674 under Royal Authority.

The other side carries a range of possibly heraldic imagery with a triangle at the centre surrounded by various objects including a bird, a cross potent, a possible flexed arm and several round objects, one of which might be a flower.
