A post-Medieval glass linen smoother (c. 1500-c. 1900). It is unclear whether this smoother is incomplete or was made as such. This dark green translucent smoother is semi-circular in plan, domed at the front and hollow at the rear. The domed surface is very smooth and the straight edge (not a break) is flat and as smooth as the domed surface. At the front a flake chipped from the edge has conchoidal fracturing. The rear face has two flakes chipped which also have conchoidal fracturing and could be related to a pontil scar. There is no indication that a handle existed. The object is…

An incomplete copper-alloy bow and fantail brooch of Roman date, c.AD 50 - 150. Only the fantail now remains, the rest having been lost to worn breaks. The fantail is triangular and a transverse collar is present at the narrower end, where it would have joined the upper bow. The front of the fantail is decorated with a central column of three vertically aligned conjoined lozenge shaped cells. These cells are flanked by smaller recessed triangular cells. A copper alloy Medieval seal matrix dating from about AD 1200 - 1400. It is circular and central motif is a female forward facing bust wearing a headdress with a chin strap and drapery, perhaps a wimple. The legend reads S' CISSILIE DE SWINLVNGTE (Seal of Cecily of [...]). On the reverse is a projecting lug at one edge, with a circular hole through it for suspension. The matix has a grey patina with some red metal showing, and a pitted surface. The object has a diameter of 24.8mm, is 3.2mm thick and weighs 8.24g.

An incomplete copper-alloy Trumpet brooch of Roman date, c. AD 75 - 175. The head of the brooch is ovate with a concave reverse which retains a two tubular lugs. An axis bar remains fitted through the lugs, its ends terminating in worn breaks. An incomplete circular sectioned pin remains fitted around the axis bar in the space between the two lugs. A copper alloy Medieval seal matrix dating from about AD 1200 - 1400. It is a pedestal type with a circular face with a faceted reverse rising to a short stem and a lozenge shaped suspension loop. The central motif is a squirrel, facing left on the impression. The legend reads **IVASAMA which does not appears to make sense. It hs a smooth grey patina with some red metal showing where it is chipped. The item is 24.7mm high in total, 18.7mm in diameter and 2.1mm thick at the edge. It weighs 8g. WMID-E1E450 is a similar example with a nonsense legend.
