Medieval copper alloy key, dating from circa AD 1300-1500. The key is incomplete, as the handle is missing and the wards are also damaged. The hollow shank is broadly circular in cross section with slightly flattened upper and lower sides and rounded outer edges. The shank is undecorated with an elaborate bit, which is 16mm deep and projects at a right angle from the shank. The bit consists of a rectangular plate 10.2mm wide with two forward facing wards.
