A worn, incomplete, Early Medieval gilt copper-alloy, small square-headed brooch with gilding, c.AD 470-c550. Description: The brooch has a rectangular head plate which is very worn, a gently arched bow, carinated in front, flat behind. Largely cruciform in shape, with sub-rectangular fields at the ends of the arms. The decoration consists of a raised, rectangular moulding on the head plate, which narrows to form a border on the bow. Copper alloy Roman (c. 60-150) brooch of 'Trumpet' type represented only by the loop and rosette once fixed to the head of the brooch. This consists of a 14.0mm diameter, diamond sectioned ring the ends of which taper and pass through two holes in a rectangular plate on the underside of the rosette after which they are splayed out. The rosette is circular and contains a conical central boss surrounded by radiating petals. Length 21.7mm, Width 21.1mm, Height 9.1mm, Mass 3.10g.

All that survives is the head of the bow and the lateral wings, the underside of which is hollow to accomodate a coiled spring. It appears that the brooch was undecorated. An incomplete Copper-Alloy annular brooch with a narrow frame for restricting pin. C. 1150 - 1450 AD in date, probably c. 13th - 14th century. Description: The brooch is annular in plan with a D shaped cross section, featuring a convex front and flat back when viewed by the observer. The pin, consisting of a cast piece of copper with a prong attachment which 'clips' onto a notch in the frame. The pin has snapped at its tip. Roman copper alloy shield brooch, probably dating to AD100-250. Length: 31 mm, width: 17 mm, thickness: 6 mm, weight; 4.47 g. The brooch has a rhombus form and is rectangular in cross section. Roman copper alloy disc brooch, AD 100-200 Length: 19 mm, width: 16 mm, thickness: 2 mm, weight: 1.78 g The brooch is incomplete but should be circular in form and rectangular in cross section. It has a raised border and is decorated with a 'triskele' design of red enamel contained within a raised border. The reverse has an incomplete pin lug at one edge and a corresponding incomplete semi-circular catchplate at the other.

Roman copper alloy Colchester derivative, hinged or hinged Dolphin brooch,Length: 41 mm, width: 25 mm,weight: 8.91 g. The brooch consists of plain circualr cross sectioned solid wings which house a central pin, now incomplete. The bow is semi-circular in cross section and is decorated with a slight crest at its upper edge which becomes a slight ridge running the bows length. It has an incomplete triangular catchplate and foot.
