Late medieval to post medieval copper alloy thimble dating to the period c. AD 1400 - 1550. Cylindrical, with a slightly domed top which exhibits an off-centre corcular perforation. The thimble is now slightly crushed on one side. The top and sides exhibit a series of concentric rows of hand-punched oval pits. There is a plain strip at the mouth of the thimble engraved with a single concentric groove. See: Holmes, E.F. (1988) 'Sewing Thimbles'. Finds Research Group Datasheet 9. A cast lead or lead alloy spindle whorl of Roman to Post Medieval date (1 - 1650 AD), most probably later medieval (1150-1600AD). The spindle whorl is broadly circular in plan and rectangular / flat in cross section. The central hole is circular and has been cast / set off centre; it has an internal diameter of 7.5mm. Cast lead or lead alloy bi-convex undecorated spindle whorl of Roman to Post Medieval date (1 - 1650 AD); most probably medieval date (AD 1300-1550). Front part of a medieval gilt copper alloy rectangular buckle plate, broken at the fold, with a pin slot, frame recesses and two rivet holes. A wyvern to sinister is reserved on a field of decayed whitish enamel. The motif is similar to Egan and Pritchard 1991, no. 530. Extant length 27mm. Width 18.5mm. Thickness 1.5mm. 13th century.

A early medieval copper alloy pot leg fragment. resembling Butler, Green and Payne type 4a, dated c.1250-1600. The leg is rougly trilobed, the central raised strip projecting 1mm above the main shaft. There may have been a more defined foot but corrosion has reduced the relief elements significantly. Corroded and broken medieval copper alloy horse harness pendant: octofoil, eight leaf-shaped lobes (two broken, stumps only) radiate from a circular centre with a broken suspension-loop springing from the upper foil. The central disc is decorated with a eight-pointed star reserved on a blue enamelled field, pierced by a separate dome-headed copper alloy rivet (length 8.5mm). Extant height 39mm. Extant width 30mm. See similar form in Griffiths, in Clark (1995), fig.50, no.71. 14th century.

An incomplete medieval copper strap end plate dating to the period (c. AD 1250-1400). The strap end is made from a single sheet of copper alloy that has been folded equally in two; a rounded section at the fold indicates where the plate would have fitted around the buckle frame. The plate is rectangular in plan and open-ended. Three round headed rivets are extant at the corners of the plate and these would have secured the plate to a leather or textile strap. An incomplete medieval copper alloy single loop buckle, dating from c. AD 1250-1400. The buckle frame is D shaped, and D shaped in cross section. On the outer frame a single collared knop projects from the centre. The pin bar is recessed, and has a casting spur either side on the frame. It has a dark green patina. A ceramic vessel rim sherd of Medieval date, about AD 1200 - 1500. About 7.5% of the rim survives, from a vessel with a rim diameter of about 200mm. The fabric is hard and gritty, fine in texture with frequent poorly sorted quartz inclusions and some dull, dark red inclusions. It is pale yellow to tan throughout. The wall of the vessel slopes inwards and the rim is squared with a slightly concave top and straight outer edge. It is 47.6mm long, 19.1mm tall and 14.1mm thick. 16.4g.

The fabric is hard and gritty, irregular in texture with frequent poorly sorted quartz inclusions and some dull, dark red inclusions. It is pink in the core and on the inner face, and sooted on the outer face. The sherd seems to have similarities with Coal Measures Ware. It is 17.4mm tall, 31.5mm wide and 5.5mm thick. 6.6g.
