Object type: JETTON
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: County of Herefordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A heavily eroded and corroded struck copper alloy coin; most probably a Tournai style jetton of the later medieval period (1350-1450). The coin is too heavily worn to be identifiable and it is possible that it might in fact be a Roman As - although the thickness and what remains of teh surface do not 'feel' as if they date from this period.
The jetton measures 27.2mm length, 23.1mm width, is 2.1mm thick and weighs 4.72 grams
