Copper alloy stud. Two components of a press stud fastening, retaining traces of the textile in which both elements were sited in the hollow edges of both. On what was presumably the inner side of the fastening, black paint or lacquer. On the other side there is a stamped four-pointed star motif and extensive gilding traces. The survival of textile fragments points to a recent date; two distinct fabrics appear to be represented though the fastener is presumably from a single garment. Sub-triangular projections at either end may suggest the continuation of the object as an open frame. A ferrous metal object is attached to the middle of one side, but as this does not appear to pass through the bar it may represent an adventitious adhesion rather than part of the object.
