Medieval gilt copper alloy possible binding strip from a box or casket, comprising a bent rectangular-sectioned strip with a rectangular terminal with an integral rivet on the reverse (length 7mm), the other end is missing. A complete, copper alloy Lozengiform harness mount or stud dating to the medieval period, AD1200 - 1400. The mount is in the form of a lozenge with a central stud projecting from the reverse.The face is decorated with a red enamel border just inside the edge. The face has a fleur-de-lis in the centre within a single oval line. The inscription around it apears to read "S ' ALICE FIL' DAMONI'S", This translates as Seal of Alice daughter of Dammond.
