An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy mount (1600-1700). The attachment spikes are largely missing. The mount has curvilinear sides with a pointed knop at each end. On the rear face two stubs of integral spikes are present. This mount is corroded and the edges are abraded. The front has a dark green patina in places. Height: 26.4mm; width: 6.2mm; thickness: 2.0mm; thickness including spikes: 4.5mm. Weight: 1.81g. A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy mount (c. 1650-c. 1800). This mount is circular, convex at the front and concave at the rear. The front has incuse initials: G R//C. There are two spikes situated at the edges of the rear, these are opposite each other. Both are circular in cross-section. The front has a dark green patina. Diameter: 20.3mm; thickness: 5.0mm; thickness including spikes: 13.9mm. Weight: 7.28g.

Description: Post Medieval silver anthropomorphic stud or mount. In the form of a human bust, the facial features are rendered in low relief with lentoid eyes, moulded nose and lips. The head sports long curly hair, or possibly a wig which flows down the sides of the head and covers the shoulders. The curls are rendered and a continuous looping wavy line with circular recesses at each curve. An incomplete copper alloy plaque, or possible mount, from the Post Medieval period, AD1865-1900. The object consists of a straight sided, round top and bottom, with a beaded borde. Within this is a circular belt with the inscription 'LAYING THE ATLANTIC CABLE'. This surrounds a picture of a 19th century six masted paddle and sail vessel at sea, with a small tender in front.The reverse of the plaque is not decorated but shows some of the image from the obverse.There is some corrosion on both faces and there are small pieces broken off at several places around the edge.
