A complete but very worn post-Medieval silver groat of Elizabeth I (1558-1603), minted at London. Initial marks: cross-crosslet/cross crosslet, 1560-1561 (North 1991: 133, ref: 1986).
Obverse: ELIZABE[TH] D.G.AN.FRA;ET.HIB [R]EGINA; Crowned bust left.
Reverse: POSVI/DE[V AD]/IVTOR[E]/M:MEV; (I have made God my Helper); Square shield on long cross fourchée dividing the inscription.
Diameter: 23.6mm. Weight: 1.55g. DA=12:3.
