A medieval cast lead alloy pointed oval (vesica shaped) seal matrix c.1200-1350. Flat and pointed oval in plan with the remains of a suspension loop on the top that is now mostly missing. The face has a fleur-de-lis in the centre within a single oval line. The inscription around it apears to read "S ' ALICE FIL' DAMONI'S", This translates as Seal of Alice daughter of Dammond. The inscription is notable for having no initial mark.. The top is decorated with a floral spray. Length 28.0 mm, width 21.7 mm, thickness 3.8 mm and weight 11.7 grams. An incomplete cast and engraved copper-alloy ecclesiastical pedestal seal matrix of 14th century date, possibly from the office of the Bishops of Lincoln. Description: The matrix is of exaggerated pedestal form with a standard small, trilobate collared handle and over large pointed oval die face slightly conical on its rear. Each point of the pointed oval die face is missing.
