Incomplete lead-alloy button of medieval date (c. 1300 - 1400 AD). The button is domed. It is decorated on the domed face with a moulded weave design and finished with a central circular knop. Object type: CANDLESTICK
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: North Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Lead alloy candlestick. A cast and slightly tapered cylindrical socket with flared rim, and tapered sharply at its base, where it has broken from its stem, which was possibly hollow. The small socket, with a mouth of diameter 11.3mm, may suggest this was for use with cheaper narrower candles such as tallow dips, while the construction points to an unusually lightweight item. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1650-1800
Diameter (at rim): 20.4mm, Height: 21.7mm, Thickness (wall, at rim): 1mm, Weight: 7.51gms

Object type: WHEEL
Broad period: MODERN
County: North Lincolnshire

Lead alloy wheel. Cast flanged wheel with nine spokes radiating between its hub and rim. Probably from a toy train, possibly modelled at O Gauge or a scale of c.1:32. Iron staining suggests the loss of a steel axle. The dimensions are so close to whole and rounded metric units as to hint at Continental manufacture. Suggested date: Modern, 1900-1939
Diameter: 30.1mm, Thickness (at hub): 10.1mm, Weight: 24.58gms

Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL

Lead alloy figurine. The hind-quarters of a naturalistically modelled hollow-cast lion in recumbent pose; lightly patinated, found in two joining pieces. The finder asserts this to be part of a Sphinx, the badge of the Lincolnshire Regiment awarded for its service against Revolutionary France in the Egyptian campaign of 1800-1801. This reporter would be more tentative in identifying the beast in the absence of its head. The hollow casting technique probably indicates a late 19th to early 20th-century date for its manufacture. Suggested date: Post-Medieval to Modern, 1875-1925

Lead alloy spoon fragments. Small fragments from three spoons (a-c), all cast in a lead alloy. One [a - of length 28.7mm] is the rounded handle terminal from a spoon decorated with a stamped oval panel with pelleted border, itself within an outer border for the handle. A second [b - of length 39.3mm] is plain on its display side with a slightly turned-down end. On its underside, this bears three stamped square panels resembling hallmarks, which they are not, containing florid letters or symbols; and the initials WR below a cushion crown at one end of the run. The stamped letters [---…
