Treasure case 2018 T615: declared Treasure, undergoing valuation Description: A complete gold penannular ring dating to the period 1150 to 800 BC. The ring is C-shaped in plan with a gap of 2.4 mm between the flat ends and oval in cross-section. It is decorated with alternating thin stripes of a contrasting bright gold and paler silver metal. The silver has been preferentially attacked in the soil and is slightly pitted. There is some slight damage to the inner sides of the flat ends. The hoard consists of 821 base metal Roman coins found dispersed in the ploughsoil by two finders between 2011 and 2019. The coins range in date from AD 238 to c. 288 and the assemblage is broadly similar in composition to the many Romano-British coin hoards buried in the late third century. Roman copper alloy openwork key handle dating to the period c. AD 150 - 409. It comprises a cordate openwork handle with a circular aperture at the apex forming a suspension loop; a triangular projection to either side of the loop and to either side of the bottom of the cordate handle. At the top of the loop is a collared knob. At the bottom of the cordate handle is a rectangular hollow socket with moulded double collar. The corroded remains of the iron shank sit within. Similar to an example discussed by Crummy (1983, p.126, Fig. 142) and assigned a post-AD150 date.

An incomplete Post Medieval (AD 1550-1650) cast copper alloy trefoil shaped dress fastening hook. Description: The fastening is cast in one piece with moulded relief and openwork to create a trefoil shaped knot which appears to be undecorated. Two rounded knop decorate the join between the rectangular attachment loop and the trefoil knot. There is a very short length of the elongated hook remaining. Read Class E Type 5. An incomplete copper alloy Livery Button, dating from the Modern period, AD 1820 - 1912. The button has a raised rim on its front, and has been silvered. Fragment of Early Saxon small long brooch dating to the period c. AD 480 - 530. Cross potent headplate terminating in an old break along the bottom edge. Each arm of the cross exhibits two rows of opposed crescents separated by a pair of grooves. The central rectangular panel is bordered on either side by a vertical line of opposed crescents. On the reverse is a single pin lug within the corroded remains of the iron spring.
