An incomplete early early-medieval (Anglo Saxon, c.AD 450-600) copper alloy small-long brooch, missing its (iron) spring mechanism and the curl of the catchplate. The head-plate (26.1mm wide and 1.9mm thick) is trefoil in shape with crescentic arms, the two smaller side-arms have a central nick in the outer edge while the larger arm reaches a slight point at its centre. Fragment of Early Saxon small long brooch dating to the period c. AD 480 - 530. Cross potent headplate terminating in an old break along the bottom edge. Each arm of the cross exhibits two rows of opposed crescents separated by a pair of grooves. The central rectangular panel is bordered on either side by a vertical line of opposed crescents. On the reverse is a single pin lug within the corroded remains of the iron spring.

Late Saxon key with Scandinavian influenced openwork interlace decoration dating to the period c. AD 900 - 1100. Now broken into two refitting halves. The bow is asymmetical with an openwork design, the details now heavily worn, with a large loop projecting from the top and two smaller loops projecting from either side, one of which is incomplete due to old breaks. Fragment of copper alloy late Saxon decorated strap end. Probably Thomas class E; originally tongue-shaped but broken at the upper end where it bifurcates to take the strap, and at the lower end in a transverse break before the tongue-shaped terminal. Extant on the edge of the upper break is the curved intrusion of a partial rivet hole. High-relief scrolls and curving geometric patterns on the front face with possible remains of niello within. Circa AD800-1000.
