A late Early-Medieval copper alloy barrel-shaped weight. The weight is globular, solid, and has a flattened surface at opposing ends. Both flat surfaces are decorated with a pair of punched ring and dot motifs. The weight has a height of 11.5mm, a diameter of 14mm and a weight of 7.19g. Similar barrel-shaped weights are recorded on the PAS database. While some bear ring and dot motifs (LIN-3A4E60, LIN-0E64A2), the style of decoration can vary (SF-B137C2, SF-334CE5, SF-4B1547)

Post medieval lead weight dating to the period c. AD 1550 - 1750. Discoidal in form with a circular perforation, probably for suspension. The upper face exhibits two stamps: A crown within a circular ropework border, possibly initials below, obliterated by the perforation. The arms of the City of Norwich (A castle keep over a lion facing left) within a beaded rectangular border. 433g / 6682.21 grains = just under 1lb avoirdupois. There are a number of dents and scratch marks on the surface, therefore, it is likely that the weight originally weighed 1lb and has lost some we…

Copper alloy weight. Cast rectangular weight with bevelled edges, and with the numerals 2 1 stamped into its upper side. The mass is a little over one quarter of an averdepois ounce, though the notation might point to this coming from a set for specialist, perhaps pharmaceutical, use. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1650-1800 Length: 22.9mm, Width: 15.9mm, Thickness: 3.7mm, Weight: 7.79gms

Lead weight. Cast discoid weight of short cylindrical form with a broad circumferential border enclosing lettering [now illegible] stamped on one side, just possibly with a central bust. The design, most clearly at the rim, may draw on that of the 'cartwheel' coinage of 1797. Lightly patinated. The mass may suggest this was intended to represent one half of an averdepois pound. The stamped legend might suggest this weight was for commercial use or of commercial provenance. From the mid-18th-century, the use of lead weights was curtailed, though contrarily, official inspection stamps a…

An early medieval to medieval weight with an embedded object in the top of it dating to AD c. 700 - 1400). The main body of the weight is lead, while on the upper surface a stylised, decorative copper alloy piece has been embedded. A lead alloy weight of Medieval or Post Medieval date, about AD 1200 - 1800. The weight is a flat disc of lead with an incuse design in the upper face. This takes the form of a a deep central circle surrounded by six pointed petels forming a rose or flower design. This motif is enclosed within a recessed circle of small inward pointing triangles forming a border. The sides of the disc are slightly rounded and the reverse is plain. It is 66.9mm diameter, 12.8mm thick and 443g. This is a little less than the mass of a 1 pound weight, which is probably what was intended. Compare WILT-56A…
