An incomplete and worn post-Medieval copper-alloy button (1700-1800). The shank is missing. This button has a circle of indentations resembling a sunburst. There are similar indentations forming a border. The stub of a shank survives at the back. This button is drab brown. Diameter: 29.0mm; thickness including stub: 2.9mm. Weight: 3.96g. A similar button has been published and dated 1700-1800 (Bailey 2004: 62, fig. 9, ref: 170). Bailey, G. 2004. Buttons & Fasteners 500 BC-AD 1840. Greenlight Publishing, Witham. Essex.

An incomplete copper alloy Livery Button from the Modern date of AD1875. The front of the button has a raised rim, is worn and in parts corroded, which has removed much of its silvering. The left half of the front surface bears a rampant Lion, paw raised going left but facing front. On its right hand side there is an Eagle facing left, its wings partly open. Around its neck is a Coronet/Crown, which in Heraldic terms is called "ducally gorged". On its reverse are the makers names and address:- FIRMIN & SONS Ltd. 135, STRAND. LONDON. Lozenge shaped cast copper alloy button with integral drilled shank. The button is 9.8mm wide with a pyramid shaped front and flat back; the shank is 8.8mm in length, with a rectangular section and oval shaped loop. The front is quarted with a saltire with each face carrying trefoils on traces of a black paint or niello field. As Read (2005), p30 number 96. Late 15th-16th century.

A complete copper alloy Livery Button dating from the Post Medieval - Modern period, circa:- AD 1790 - 1850. The button is in good condition, and on its front bears the head of a Hound, mouth open facing left. It was once gilded, but nearly all traces of this have been worn away. On its reverse its suspension loop is still attached, with two words WARRANTED and GILT above and below it. No manufacturers details available. The button has a diameter of 16.48 mm, is 1.05 mm thick, and weighs 2.5 g.

A complete copper alloy Livery Button of a Post Medieval - Modern date, c:- AD 1790 - 1850. The button was gilded at one time, but most of it has been worn away. Its front bears a Hounds head, mouth open facing left. On the reverse, the suspension loop is still in place although bent towards the back of the button. No makers details are present, just two words one above the other :- WARRANTED. and GILT. The button is 16.05 mm in diameter, weighs 2.4g, and is 0.93 thick.

An incomplete copper alloy Livery Button from a Modern date, circa:- AD 1800 - 1840. The front of the button has a rim around its edge, and in its centre bears a Falcon at rest on a Perch/Block facing left. The button has been Silvered, and some of this is missing through wear. On its reverse the suspension loop is missing, but details of the manufacturers are intact :- Nutting & Son. Kings Street. Covent Garden. They manufactured buttons circa AD1800 - 1840. This button has a diameter of 24.88 mm, weighs 5.7 g, and has a thickness of 1.37 mm.

19th century Copper alloy military button, with the front partially lost. The remaining portion has an octofoil or scalloped border around the number 98. The rear of the button comprises a separate element with a shank and groove along the mid portion. Surrounding this is a legend and linear border around the edge, which on one side reads SMITH & WRIGHT with initials S W inside. The legend on the other side is almost illegible, but probably reads BIRMINGHAM on the basis of comparable examples.
