An incomplete copper alloy Livery Button showing signs of gilding, from the Post-Medieval - Modern period, circa:- AD 1790 - 1823. The front of the button has a raised rim, and bears the head of a Hound, mouth open facing left. On its reverse the suspension loop is missing, but the manufacturers details remain within a circle of laurel topped by a Crown. Details:- Hammond, Turner & Dickinson. They manufactured buttons in Birmingham circa AD1790 - 1823. The button has a diameter of 26.0mm, is 1.49mm thick, and weighs 7.6g.

An incomplete silvered copper alloy Livery Button from a Post-Medieval date, AD1797 - 1799. The front of the button has a raised rim, and bears the head of a Lion mouth open facing left, a Crown/Coronet around its neck. In Heraldic terms this is described as "ducally gorged. The suspension loop on its reverse is missing, but the maker's names survive :- Firmin & Westall. They manufactured buttons together between AD1797 and 1799.

An incomplete cast copper alloy post medieval dress hook, dating to c.1500-1550 (Read class E type 3). It consists of a trapezoidal attachment loop with a circular openwork central body being 17.6mm in diameter. The design on the central portion exhibits a central cross surrounded by eight small apertures, two that have corroded 'shut' and two being oval extended openings positioned at 2 & 10 o'clock with the loop uppermost. A copper alloy probable belt mount dating to the post medieval period (c.1600 - 1700). The mount is flat in section and round in plan with four triangular knops projecting from four opposite positions around the circumference. On the reverse there are two complete integral fixing pins, which are both bent outwards, away from the centre. The surfaces are corroded, with a reddish-brown patina. The mount is c.12mm in diameter, 1.1mm thick and weighs 0.8g. Read, in 'Metal artefacts of antiquity' illustrates similar items as no's 278 and 279, both of c17th century date.

A copper alloy (tombac) discoidal flat button with a rounded rim, measuring 24.9mm in diameter and 2.1mm thick, and weighing 7.5g. It has engraved decoration consisting of a central 11.5mm diameter 5-petalled Tudor rose superimposed on a 5 pointed star. On the reverse is an integral 8.6mm diameter central domed boss which has small stubs from the embedded copper alloy attachment loop, most of which has broken away. There are buttons of similar design in Bailey (no's. 46, 65, 73 & 106), which are given an 18th century date.

Post medieval double loop buckle dating to the period c. AD 1500 - 1630. Central narrowed and offset strap bar with an oval loop projecting on either side, the outer edges angled to give the frame a hexagonal shape. At the apex is an integrally cast suspension loop set perpendicular to the frame. Traces of files marks visible. See: Whitehead, R, 2003, p. 72, no. 450.

Incomplete Post-Medieval cast copper alloy double loop asymmetrical buckle dating to c. AD 1575 to 1700. The buckle is slightly trapezoidal in plan and has one sub-rectangular loop and one D-shaped loop on either side of the central bar. The loops are trapezoidal in section with bevelled sides and a flat back. The outer edge of the rectangular loop has six lobed knops. Post medieval silver gilt dress hook, c30mm long and c12mm wide. The object is rectangular in form and cross section with a projecting circular cross sectioned hook at its base. The main section is formed of a rectangular backplate and is decorated with small rectangular projections running along both edges. A French post-medieval silver possible douzain of Henry IV of France (1589-1610). The coin is now in two pieces, in profile bent into an 'S' shape (and broken along one fold). It perhaps had a secondary use as a love token. Carl Savage comments that the coin is too worn for a more accurate identification as both legends and the obverse are lost through wear.

A complete lead-alloy probable musket ball or shot of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1600 - 1800. The object is sub-spherical, perhaps mis-cast with the sprue remaining attached. The object is undecorated though has some fairly deep scratches and pitting. The metal has a light white/grey patina and is in fair condition. The object is 11.8mm x 13.3mm and weighs 13.7g. The weight suggests the object, if a shot, would have fitted a pistol. Sprues were sometimes left in situ to provide an attachment for the cartridge.
