An incomplete copper alloy Livery Button of a Modern date, c:- AD 1840 - 1900. The front of the button bears the head of a Gryphon facing left with a Crown around its neck. In Heraldic terms this is described as "ducally gorged". Through wear, it has lost nearly all sign that it has been gilded. The suspension loop on its reverse is missing, but the makers name and address survive:-
FIRMIN. LONDON.
The button has a diameter of 16.32mm, is 1.09mm thick, and weighs 2.3 g.

A copper alloy Livery Button from a Modern date, c:- AD 1840 - 1900. The front of the button bears the head of a Gryphon facing left, with a Crown around its neck. In Heraldic terms this is described as "ducally gorged". It's surface has been silvered, and it shows little sign of wear. On the reverse the suspension loop is intact, but the manufacturers details have been made uncertain through wear.
The button measures 16.41mm in diameter, is 1.18mm thick, weighs 2.5g, and the suspension loop has a diameter of 5.38mm.
