Scottish hammered silver penny, Alexander III (1249-86), second coinage, class D2 (Spink S5057) dating to c.1280 - 1292 AD. Obverse with crowned bust left with sceptre, legend surrounding. Reverse, long cross pattée with four mullets of six points in angles, giving a total of 24 points. Legend surrounding, legend surrounding, wedge tail lettering in legend. Ref: Spink 2015, pg 19.
