A copper-alloy fragment of a possibly Medieval unidentified object, dating to AD 1200-1500. It consists of an oval cross-section shaft slightly curved at one end. The curved end is possibly broken and has a sharp tip extremely worn. The opposite end, tapers and curves til the break at the bend. The surfaces are haevily abraded. No parallels have been found. It might be part of a Medieval spur or a very worn padlock key, cf Margeson (1993, p. 159, fig. 117, no. 1264). Length: 54.09 mm Width: 5.65 mm Thickness: 4.08 mm Weight: 5.48 g

A copper-alloy fragment of a Roman to Medieval unidentified object, dating to AD 43-1500. It consists of a shaft with a collar near its centre which seems to have flattened on two opposite faces. On one side of the collar the shaft had a circular cross-section and is probably broken at the end. On the other side of the collar the shaft has a square cross-section, which turns into circular before the break at the end. A Mesolithic tranchet adze made from brown flint, 83.3mm in length and 49.7mm wide. The adze has been made from a single large flake with a flat side and a convex side demonstrating further working and removal of characteristic final sharpening flake (Butler, 2005: 100). The edges and tip are damaged. Likely manufactured from a flint nodule obtained from local clay-with-flints outcrops on the chalk Downs.

Description: The fragment represents a middle section of the blade, with the mid-rib and faceted blade edges remaining. The division of the blade facets from the mid-rib is highly distinctive. The breaks seem heavily worn and the object is patinated dark green where un damaged and lighter green where damaged or worn.
