An incomplete and slightly bent post medieval copper-alloy Nuremberg jetton of the 'Ship-penny' type, anonymous issue dating to c. AD 1490-1550. Minted at Nuremberg. Cf. Mitchiner (1988: 368) no. 1140.
The jetton has been cut or broken along a fold at a chord such that it has lost about a quarter of its area/volume.

A Post Medieval copper alloy jetton (AD1550 -1590) of the Rechenmeister type. Obverse: Rechenmeister seated facing, at his counting table, with one hand and numerous counters upon the table. There is a continuous looped chain design around the border. The reverse has the Alphabet in five lines within a square lined border. arranged as ABCDE/FGHIK/LMNOP/QRSTV/WXYZ Letters J and U are not included. Diameter 27.5mm, thickness 1.06mm, weight 4g. There is no exact match in Mitchiner for this jetton, but c.f nos. 1426-1428, the alphabet similarly occuring inside a square frame.
