A fragment of a copper-alloy strap end of Medieval date, c. AD 1150 - 1450. The object is one plate from a composite strap end. The main body of the strap end is rectangular in plan with a diagonal break. The attachment end is no longer present. The other end is shaped into a basic trefoil characterised by a large central sub-triangular trefoil leaf. The central leaf is perforated by a rivet, part of which remains and still holds a fragment of a second copper-alloy sheet onto the underside of the plate. A complete copper-alloy strap end of Medieval date, c. AD 1150 - 1450. The object is a composite strap end with forked spacers. It is comprised of two plates, which are rectangular in plan, around a central forked spacer. The two forks of the spacer are broken at around a quarter of the length of the strap end and traces of fabric are visible between the front and back plates. It is comprised of two plates, which are rectangular in plan, around a central forked spacer. At one end all three layers have curved corners and an inset central rounded knop. The attachment end is trifurcated and traces of fabric remain between the plates. The layers are held together by two rivets in total, with one at the centre of each end of the strap end. A complete copper-alloy strap end of Medieval date, c. AD 1150 - 1450. The object is a sheet metal strap end, folded lengthways. It is comprised of two plates which are rectangular in plan and joined at one end where the copper sheet has been folded. The folded end has been worked and shaped into an inset central pointed knop. The attachment end is bifurcated with one central rivet. Both sides are plain. The strap end is bent in two places forming an S shaped profile, although it is clear that the original profile was triangular.
