Adze, patinated orange and brown, of sub-trapezoidal to sub-lenticular cross section, bifacially knapped from a thermal (frost) fractured piece of a nodule of flint, the dorsal face retains a small area, towards the middle, of thin, worn cortex, the ventral face has the frost fractured surface running from the butt to the underside of the cutting edge, only the edges have had rather steep flake removals, towards the middle, on one edge, the angle is almost too obtuse (beyond 90 degrees) but a series of flakes have been removed, although they have terminated in a series of hinges. Adze or axe fragment, only the butt end is extant, broken recently by a transverse bending fracture, bifacially knapped to a sub-lenticular cross section by a hard hammer stone with an akward angle to one lateral edge, and one tiny patch of white cortex just above this.
