An incomplete pewter "Bosun" whistle of post medieval date (1650 - 1900). Description: The whistle is hollow and tubular in cross-section. The fragment consists of rounded/domed end section decorated with a series of cast circumferential ridges. The knop shaped terminal is turned and the hole pierced through the end is 2.68mm in diameter. The whistle is reddish brown in colour with a rough surface. Post medieval pottery vessel sherds. One rim sherd, four base sherds and ten body sherds of Midlands Purple ware pottery (1600 - 1720). The fabric of the sherds is a hard earthware with small rounded and sub-angular inclusions of grit and quartz. The colour of the inclusions varies however most are of a light yellow or white colour. The colour of the fabric is a purple grey with some of the sherds coated in a dark purple slip that appears burnished in some areas. Weight 481.6g.

The fabric of the sherds is a hard earthenware with sub-angular inclusions or grit and quartz varying in colour from white to dark grey. The colour of the fabric is orange with some of the sherds glazed in a dark red brown slip and burnished, the inner fabric of the sherds is a lighter orange. Weight 478g.

A very worn and abraded body sherd of Nene Valley colour coated ware, dating c. AD 150-400. The internal fabric is a whitish buff colour, solidly fired with no trace of inclusions.On both the inner and outer surfaces, the remains of an applied black slip are visible. Preserved in heavily abraded condition, it measures 43.22mm long down its longest axis, 9.85mm thick at its midpoint, and weighs 23.17g.

A fragment of a wheel thrown ceramic vessel of Roman date, c.AD250-410. The fragment is a rim sherd from a Huntcliff calcite-gritted ware vessel. The fabric is dark brownish-black in colour with a pitted outer surface. Some calcite inclusions are present which are heterogeneous in size and visible where the rim has broken away from the body of the vessel. The fragment indicates that the vessel had an everted rim and bears a groove along the inside of the lip, either as a decorative feature or marking the place where a lid would rest. Three heavily abraded body sherds and one base sherd of Roman greyware vessels. The base sherd is a small fragment from a narrow based vessel with sides that are expanding outwards at around 75 degrees to the base, probably a jar. The micaceous fabric varies from pale to mid-grey with a silty texture, abundent fine sand temper and occasional (5-10%) rounded inclusion up to 1mm, probably limestone or other grey stone. 22g in total weight.

An incomplete and broken lead alloy toy gun (1600 - 1700). The toy is probably modelled on the petronel pistol that was popular in the 17th century (Forsyth & Egan, 2005: 97). The toy consists of a cylindrical barrel, powder pan and hollow decorated butt, the trigger of the gun appears to be missing. The butt is decorated on one side with diagonal ridges with three pellets between each ridge and a raised border containing the pattern. The toy has a beige patina. Length 61.99mm, width 11.03mm, thickness 7.01mm and weight 15.76g.

A copper-alloy Medieval thimble, dating to AD 1350-1500. It is domed and it has two incised lines running along its base. The circular fine identations are hand drilled and are applied in vertical lines on the sides, while on the base of the crown they are applied in three concentric circles. The crown has a tonsure-like patch free of indentations; the top of the crown has a circular indentation on its centre. One edge of the thimble is slightly bent inwards. A cast copper alloy strap fitting, consisting of a rectangular frame with a pair of attachment loops at the shorter sides. One is trapizoidal and the other triangular with small protrusions on the outer edges. The central motif of a stylised animal head is raised in high relief and faces the triangular loop. A cast lead bag seal of the middle Post Medieval period (AD1600-1700). The seal consists of a double cast disc with bifurcated slots which would have had a drawstring attached. One face of the seal is decorated with a shield surmounted bya cross. The shield is sub-divided by a cross; in the two upper quarters are five pellets whilst the two bottom quarters are empty.
