Description: A complete but broken cast silver annular buckle dating to the Medieval period, c. 1200-1400. It demonstrates a plain circular-sectioned frame with a break on one edge, around which is wrapped a straight blunt-ended pin.
Dimensions: in its opened-out state, the brooch measures 46.14mm in length and 2.01mm thick at its midpoint. It weighs 1.84g.
Discussion: A similar object has been recorded on the PAS database as WILT-50B487. This item has been identified as a buckle rather than a brooch as the pin is free-moving and not held in place by means of a constriction.…

Medieval copper alloy buckle, dating to 1250-1400AD. The buckle has as semi-circular form and rectangular cross section. It has a central rounded, projecting triangular pin rest flanked by small sub-shperical knops. Opposite this it has a narrowed off set strap bar with a pin wrapped around. An almost complete Roman copper alloy military buckle dating to AD 100 to 250. The buckle consists of singular loop with semi-scrolling ands and a small integral plate with a slot for the pin. The pin is missing.
The frame is D-shape and measure 25.1 mm width at the point of maximum expansion. It is sub-rectangular in section, with a convex outer side and a flat inner side and reverse. The ends of the frame adjacent to the plate are curled inwards ending in semi-scrolls either side of the missing pin.

A complete but worn medieval buckle plate dating from the late 14th century AD. The plate consists of a sheet of copper alloy that originally would have folded over the pin bar. It is rectangular, on the outer side it narrows towards the attachment end, the reverse is narrower and shorter. In the centre of the plate are two circular rivet holes with rivets, one close to the pin bar end, and the other near the attachment end. The one close to the attachment end is slightly off centre.
