A fragment of an Anglo Scandinavian horse harness fitting, dating to 11th century AD. The fragment is part of a Type 2 cheekpiece, consisting of a triangular shaped plate, which has been broken across a circular hole. The breaks are worn, as is the surface, but is possibly decorated with an incised triple border running along the edges of the cheekpiece. The cheekpiece narrows and ends in a rounded knop. An incomplete early medieval (Anglo-Scandinavian) copper alloy stirrup strap mount, dating to c.1070-1140. The mount is Williams Class A, Type 10c. The mount is sub triangular in shape, with the longer sides arching out slightly. The front of the mount is decoration with moulded high relief decoration, depicting an animal viewed from above, with the head at the narrowed end, with a leg either side and the paw curved round. A complete copper alloy Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) finger ring or ear-ring, dating c. 800-1100. It is penannular in plan, formed from a single piece of circular-sectioned wire and tapering to a point at either end. Preserved in fair condition with an even greenish patina, it measures 23.93mm in diameter, 3.34mm thick at its midpoint, and weighs 2.83g. A cast lead spindle whorl which is circular in plan with a flat profile and shallowly convex sides, and is white in colour. It is 23.0mm in diameter with a maximum thickness of 7.5mm, and has a straight-sided central aperture of 6.5mm diameter, and it weighs 26.5g. The whorl conforms to Walton-Rogers form B, and therefore probably dates to 900 - 1100.

A copper alloy strap end probably of Early Medieval date, about AD 750 - 900, and of Thomas Class C. It has an incomplete plate at the attachment end (and another one missing) which is sub-triangular, and a solid terminal at the closed end which is very long, forming a circular-sectioned shank decorated with transverse ribs at the attachment end, and a sub-sherical terminal knop at the closed end. The surviving plate is bent, and the rivet holes are missing. The strap end is 32.4mm long, 7.2mm wide and 3.2mm thick. 1.6g. It has a smooth grey/green patina. Compare BUC-681A0B, ESS-35…
